Departments

Building on the history of the Dallas Woman’s Forum, where Departments were established to allow members to focus on areas of interest and influence, the Forum currently has 4 Departments: Literary, Music, Culinary, and Art.

Literary

The purpose of the Literary Department is to enlighten and entertain our members and to celebrate Texas and Texas writers. The Department will also be instituting a Study Group, with the first subject being the history of East Dallas and Ross Avenue. For more information about the Literary Department and its events, visit the Literary Department page or contact the Department Chair at LiteraryDept@DallasWomansForum.org.

Music

The Music Department’s purpose is to raise money in order to purchase musical instruments and other necessities for the music program at the Birdie Alexander Elementary School.  To this end, the Department sponsors two programs during the year;  a musical soiree in an intimate setting, and a variety show performed in a Cabaret-like setting. For more information about the Music Department and its events, visit the Music Department page or contact the Department Chair at MusicDept@DallasWomansForum.org.

Culinary

The Culinary Department of the Dallas Woman’s Forum, formed in 2011, just completed its first successful year. A Wine Around the World wine tasting on November 6, 2011 was our first event. The second culinary event of the year was the Holiday Cafe for the annual Holiday Home Tour. The Culinary Department will once again run the Holiday Cafe for the annual Holiday Home Tour, December 6 – 9, 2012. For more information about the Culinary Department and its events, visit the Culinary Department page or contact the Department Chair at CulinaryDept@DallasWomansForum.org.

Art

The Art Department of the Dallas Woman’s Forum is responsible for acquisition, maintainance and restoration of the collection of Early Texas Art owned by the Forum. The Forum owns more than twenty-four paintings by Texas artists, most from the 1920′s and 1930′s. “Antiques at the Alexander” the most successful event of last season, will be repeated this season on Saturday, April 27, 2013, featuring lectures, informal appraisals, and a Raffle. For more information about the Art Department and its events, visit the Art Department page or contact the Department Chair at ArtDept@DallasWomansForum.org.
