The Art Department

The Art Department of the Dallas Woman’s Forum is responsible for the collection of Early Texas Art owned by the Forum. The Forum held the first art show during the 1911-1912 year, and in 1926-1927, purchased two paintings from the show.

This became an annual tradition that continued into the 1930’s. As a result, the Forum owns more than twenty-four paintings by Texas artists, most from the 1920’s and 1930’s. There are also a few more recent pieces that have been donated to the Forum over the years. One of these paintings is shown at right: “Floral Still Life with Bowl,” by Adele Brunet (Am. 1871-1963).

Art dept infoArt Department meetings are held at the Alexander Mansion. Each year, the department plans visits to world renowned art galleries in the Dallas/Fort Worth area.

Please visit our Event Calendar to see our meeting and event schedule.
